Businesses are being encouraged to join forces with some of the world’s top performers in support of Blackpool’s circus festival Showzam!.
Investment from Arts Council England, Blackpool BID and VisitBlackpool, among others, has enabled Showzam! to go ahead for a ninth year.
But organisers of the four-day festival, which boosted Blackpool’s economy by an estimated £2m this year, are seeking more support to bring top circus and cabaret stars to the town during February’s half-term holiday.
Arts body LeftCoast is offering firms the chance to be part of the festival with a series of sponsorship packages.
Executive director Julia Turpin said: “To secure Showzam!’s future we really need businesses to get behind it.
“Reductions in funding mean we have to think differently about how Showzam! is supported.
“If your business has benefited or you have just enjoyed the artistic mayhem that comes to town each year, this is your chance to be part of making sure it continues.”
Sponsorship packages range from £150 to £15,000 – for a headline sponsor.
As well as Showzam! Central, in the Winter Gardens, the festival will see UK premier of French circus act Akoreacro at Blackpool Tower Circus, and the Showzam! Carnival Ball returns to the world famous Tower Ballroom on Saturday February 13 with the theme ‘Decadence Through The Ages’.
