There’s a double date of classical music taking place on the Fylde this Friday.

At 2pm, the Fylde Arts Midday Recital at Lytham Assembly rooms, hosts Jonathan Guy on clarinet and Philip Kubilius on piano.

The programme includes works by Brahms (Sonata No 1), Poulenc (Sonata) and Weber (Grand Duo Concertant), as the Manchester-trained duo visit the coast.

Jonathan Guy was born in North Wales but is now based in Manchester, after studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. Since then he has performed throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.

Philip Kubilius works as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist and teacher, with experience as head of keyboard at the Blackburn School of Music and is currently piano tutor at Rossall School at Fleetwood.

Later that day, the North Fylde Music Circle concert, will host for the first time the Fournier Trio (pictured), although trio pianist Chiao-Ying Chang, has played for the Circle several times before to much acclaim.

The concert is being held in the theatre at Blackpool Sixth Form College and starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, for £9 (full time students £4).

A spokesman said: “The Fournier Trio is rapidly becoming one of the leading young piano trios and this is a concert to look forward to.”
