Blackpool Rocks is rolling back to the Winter Gardens for this year’s winter celebration of dance music.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 19, moving back to the complex where it was first held in 2013.
Last year’s event was at Blackpool Tower, but received criticism from revellers who complained the venue was too small for the crowd – in particular when headline acts took to the stage in the Tower Ballroom.
Now organisers Cuffe And Taylor, the company behind Lytham Festival, as well as Blackpool-born Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard and entrepreneur Alex Huckerby will take the show back to the Winter Gardens.
In 2013, 8,000 party-goers packed into eight rooms at the Winter Gardens, with headline acts including Disclosure, The 1975 and Wretch 32, plus DJs Trevor Nelson and Pete Tong joining Danny on the decks.
Peter Taylor, director of Cuffe and Taylor, said: “There is no doubt Blackpool Rocks is a massively popular event and we want to ensure that everyone who comes has an amazing night.
“We staged the event in Blackpool Tower last year but on reflection it just wasn’t the right venue.
“You don’t know until you try these things but we as a company, and following feedback from our customers, feel that the Winter Gardens is better suited to Blackpool Rocks and I am delighted to say that is where it will be for 2015.
“The first Blackpool Rocks at the Winter Gardens in 2013 was a fantastic night and we have no doubt that 2015 will be too.”
Blackpool Rocks will see revellers enjoying five different themed rooms with national and international DJs playing dance, house and urban music over 12 hours.
The first wave of acts for 2015 is due to be announced tomorrow. Details of the line-up will be revealed over the following weeks.
