Friday’s Fylde Arts Mid Day Recital at Poulton Methodist Church is being given by Rossall School’s director of music Margaret Elizabeth Young (clarinet) and Philip Kubilius (piano) who will be presenting a programme of Brahms and Weber.

Margaret is originally from Preston and excelled in her early years, gaining a grade VIII aged just 11 and with later study achieving a BA Hons and both LRSM and LTCL diplomas.

Since then she has performed as soloist and chamber musician and was also in demand as a teacher. For nine years she was director of music at Cardinal Newman School before taking on the same role at Rossall.

Philip studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music graduating with special merit in performance. He has accompanied many famous singers and instrumentalists and has appeared as soloist and chamber musician.

His work in education includes 24 years as head of keyboard studies at the Blackburn School of Music.

In complete contrast he has also been a teacher of Tai Chi and Qigong for over 30 years.

Friday’s recital celebrates the 20th anniversary of the two artists working together as a duo and the programme includes Brahms (Sonata No 1) and Weber’s Grand Duo.

Starting at 1pm, admission is £7 (£5 Fylde Arts members). Hot lunches are available.
