National tour dates for Billy Elliot the Musical have been announced.
The show, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in the West End this year, will come to the North West for a run at Manchester’s Palace Theatre from November 29, 2016 until January 28, 2017.
Based on the highly-successful film, the show is set in a northern mining town against the background of the 1984-85 miners’ strike and follows Billy’s journey from boxing to ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and whole community and changes his life forever.
North Shore youngster Brodie Donougher (pictured) joined the West End cast last November, as one of four boys in the title role, and past local stars of the show include Ashley Luke Lloyd - who appeared in Mamma Mia! at the Opera House last summer, and Lytham’s Joey Phillips who both played Billy’s friend Michael when the show first launched.
Producer Eric Fellner said: “Having recently celebrated 10 extraordinary years of Billy Elliot the Musical in London, we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring a new touring production of this inspiring show to fans across the UK and Ireland and the chance to delight new audiences along the way.”
