A night of musical divas is coming to Blackpool in a new show from the team behind concert spectacular Thriller.
Heading to the Grand Theatre for one night only, Simply The Best! Divas launches a UK tour in February.
The new show features X Factor and stage stars Amelia Lily and Niki Evans, singing hits from the likes of Beyonce, Madonna and Dianna Ross.
X Factor 2011 finalist Amelia will come to the show fresh from the Green Day musical American Idiot at London’s Arts Theatre.
“I’m so excited to be part of such an epic new show,” she said. “I love all of these female singers and have grown up listening to them.
“I can’t wait to dress up, heel up, make up and diva up.”
The show’s been created by award-winning director Gary Lloyd, who created Thriller! - which played to packed Grand Theatre audiences in October, and who has also worked with, among others, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Girls Aloud and Tom Jones.
Simply The Best has been hailed as ‘the ultimate pop concert’, with the team saying: “Musical trends may change, styles and genre may come and go – but one thing will always remain the same: There will always be divas.”
It will feature a cast of 14 West End performers and musicians, staging the ‘biggest and most adored hits, iconic music videos and dance routines from the likes of Beyoncé, Madonna, Annie Lennox, Kylie, Diana Ross and Adele’.
Pop fans can expect classics such as Like A Virgin, Single Ladies, Rolling in the Deep, Spinning Around, Chain Reaction, If I Could Turn Back Time, and many more.
The ‘live concert spectacular promises to be an all round dynamic visual experience’ a statement said.
Niki, who came fourth in the 2007 series of The X Factor and went on to find stage success in Blood Brothers, added: “I’m so excited to be part of this show and sing songs of my heroes, these ladies inspired me to want to be a singer.
“This show is like no other I’ve seen around and to work with these amazing singers and to be singing these amazing songs I’m in heaven every night.”
