MISSED You At The Show, a Manchester-based five-piece hotly tipped for great things, make their Blackpool debut tonight at the K2 Tavern on Church Street.
Taking their inspiration from acts such as Gaslight Anthem, Augustana and Smashing Pumpkins, their sound has been critically compared to the latter – notably on their second single, Pretty Riddle, released last month.
The band, who are still at university, have built up a reputation for delivering captivating live performances, resulting in their solid fan base.
And it’s that same natural talent that’s inherent in Pretty Riddle, which was initially released as a one-track download, to be followed by a three-track bundle on March 4, which will include an acoustic version of live favourite Small Town and a hauntingly memorable cover of Paramore’s Renegade.
The single showcases their ability to deliver arrangements boasting equal parts grace and melancholy.
A band born out of the UK, Canada, Spain and Thailand, Missed You At The Show formed in 2009.
Singer Mike Poplawski and keyboard player Sergio Llopis Pascual met in a pub while studying music at the University of Salford, before recruiting bass player Suthee Phoncheewin.
An arduous search for a top class drummer led them to Cheshire-born Aaron Colton, and then fifth member Shaun Holland completed the jigsaw in 2010.
