Blackpool singing star Bernie Nolan’s funeral will be held at the resort’s Grand Theatre, her family have revealed.
Bernie, 52, died last Thursday after a brave three-year battle with cancer.
And, speaking in a national newspaper, her sister Coleen said Bernie had planned her own funeral down to the last detail.
The 48-year-old added: “It is going to be a massive celebration of her life.
“Bernie had planned every last moment of it. I remember saying to her once, ‘Aren’t you scared? ‘No, not at all,’ she replied.
“‘Well I’d be terrified,’ I said. ‘I won’t know about it by then so no, I’m not scared,’ she said. ‘But I am annoyed because I’m going to miss the biggest party afterwards’
“And so the funeral will be the party she wanted... it is just so sad she won’t be there for it.”
The service, to be held on July 17, will include music, readings by family members and a letter written by Bernie.
Sister Linda, 54, told the Sunday Mirror: “There could be no better place for Bernie’s funeral than Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
“The theatre was our lives. Bernie was a born performer and she did summer seasons and pantomime at The Grand.
“We even played in front of the Queen there,” said sister Maureen, 59. “Bernie would be so pleased to be back there.”
The funeral will be followed by a ceremony at a crematorium when Bernie’s ashes will be placed alongside those of her daughter Kate who was stillborn.
“She is buried in the children’s area so we are trying to sort the paperwork out so they can be together again,” said Linda.
“It is what Bernie wanted... to finally be with her baby,” she added.
The Grand Theatre’s marketing manager Andrew Howard said: “The Grand Theatre can confirm we have been approached about the funeral for Bernie Nolan.”
