Thousands of Neil Diamond fans have snapped up tickets for the superstar singer’s Blackpool stadium show next summer.

As tickets went on sale yesterday at 9am, fans were quick off the mark to bag their seats for the show at Blackpool FC’s Bloomfield Road stadium on Thursday, July 23.

Sales have come from all corners of the UK, and as far afield as the Netherlands, and VIP and dining packages have already sold out.

The one-off gig – the only outdoor show in rock legend Diamond’s world tour – is being staged by Fylde-based promoters Cuffe and Taylor, the team behind this year’s sell out Rod Stewart night at the ground.

Director Peter Taylor said: “Neil Diamond is a huge hit with so many people and appeals to such a wide audience.

“We did anticipate a good sale on the first day and I am happy to report this is the case.

“Since we announced the concert earlier in the week there has been a really positive response because people recognise what a coup it is to bring such a world-renowned star to Blackpool.

“We can’t wait for next July to see Bloomfield Road packed with yet another amazing live concert.”

Such is the Sweet Caroline star’s appeal, that fans are already planning their trips from overseas to Blackpool for the show.

Peter added: “Of course, we are thrilled that people from overseas are buying tickets for the concert but equally important is the fact that visitors from all over England, Scotland and Wales are snapping them up too.

“It would seem people really do want to pull out all the stops to see Neil Diamond and they want to go that extra mile.

“Many are doing that by travelling hundreds of miles to Blackpool while others want to experience the VIP side of the event while enjoying his fabulous music.

“Wherever people come from and whatever package they buy for the event we know they are guaranteed a fantastic night out because Bloomfield Road works well as a concert venue. This is going to be a great night for Blackpool.”
