A new series of Fylde Arts Buffet Talks at the Lytham Assembly Rooms begins on Friday with a programme entitled Music, Mathematics and Madness presented by international concert pianist John Clegg.
John studied music at Jesus College, Cambridge, before embarking on a concert career with a London recital in 1951. In recent years he has combined this with an appointment as Pianist-in-Residence at Lancaster University.
Well known as a broadcaster with the BBC, he has also played for radio and television in many countries.
He has toured regularly giving concerts in many countries from Europe to Australia. As well as solo recitals he has given many concerto performances with leading orchestras and working with international conductors.
At Lancaster he appeared annually in the concert series there as soloist and in many chamber music ensembles. He is also much sought after as a teacher and lecturer and frequently organises music courses throughout the UK.
Friday’s talk begins at 2pm and will be followed by a buffet when the audience will be able to meet and talk with him.
Tickets are £8 and bookings will be taken by telephone until 8pm on Thursday evening, although earlier would be preferable.
