The first of this year’s Fylde Arts junior midday recitals takes place at Lytham Assembly Rooms, on Friday by three talented young artists from Rossall School.
The recital begins at 2pm and admission is free. However, a voluntary donation is appreciated to help cover the cost .
The performers include 18-year-old baritone Sam Jones who will sing an aria from Handel’s oratorio Judas Maccabaeus and various songs by Michael Head, John Ireland, and Peter Warlock, finishing with an item from Les Miserables.
Mark Harding, horn, 16, a scholarship pupil at Rossall. He is already a member of the Halle Youth orchestra and the National Youth orchestra. He will perform pieces by Saint-Saens and Frans Strauss.
Pianist Hazel Nguyen, 16, from Vietnamr recently won all five of the Open Piano Classes in the Blackburn Music Festival. Her programme includes two groups of solos by Chopin, Schubert, Grieg, Liszt, and concludes with The Flight of the Bumble Bee by Rimsky Korsalov. The two accompanists are Gillian Littlefair and Michelle Gorrell.
