The first Grundy-Fylde Arts mid day recital of 2012 at Bispham’s Springfield Methodist Church is being given on Friday by Benedict Holland (violin) and John Gough, (piano).

Born in Swansea, Benedict Holland studied at the Royal Academy of Music and later at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) where he won many awards.

Now based in the north he works as a freelance soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. He is also a violin tutor at Chetham’s School of Music and at the RNCM.

John Gough graduated from the RNCM with a first class honours degree and professional performance diploma with distinction. Since then he has enjoyed a successful career as recitalist and concerto soloist, appearing with major orchestras and broadcasting regularly on BBC Radio. He also teaches at Chetham’s School and the RNCM.

Both artists have previously performed in the Fylde in a variety of ensembles and venues and for other recital series.

Friday’s programme includes works by Schumann, Arnold, Walton, Ravel and De Falla arr. Kreisler.

The recital begins at 1pm and admission is £7 with £5 for Fylde Arts members.
