Town centre venues Che Bar and Coco are kicking off 2011 by going all the way to Essex.

The Market Street and Talbot Square venues are hoping everyone has survived the festive season and already broken their new year resolutions of staying in, saving money and getting fit.

“I don’t know about anybody else but we are ready to party!” says general manager Dominic Herdman.

And things get off to a flying start tomorrow, Saturday January 15, when the party starts with a special personal appearance by Mark Wright, the star of The Only Way Is Essex the ITV2 reality television show based in, well, Essex actually.

It shows real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way. It made its debut last October and follows the lives of young adults Mark Wright, Jessica Wright, Kirk Norcross, Amy Childs, Lauren Goodger, Sam Faiers and their friends.

The show is primarily filmed in Brentwood close to London and shows their lives as young, rich Essex boys and girls. It is filmed only a few days in advance and Series 1 ran initially for four weeks, with two episodes a week. It is narrated by Denise Van Outen, who is from Basildon, Essex. The show has been described by as “Great Britain’s answer to The Hills and Jersey Shore.”

The series started with a brief introduction to all the characters’ lives and how they are all inter-connected. We saw how everyone was getting ready for Lauren Goodger’s 600 person birthday event at the nightclub Sugar Hut, owned by Kirk Norcross and promoted by Mark Wright, and learned about her nine-year relationship with Mark Wright.

He openly discussed his relationship problems with his sister, Jessica Wright, who was sceptical about her brother’s commitment.

In further episodes the cast went speed dating at one of Mark’s events and Kirk and Amy ended up in an argument due to Amy’s flirting.

After Mark’s visit this weekend there’s another dose of Essex when Arg and Lucy visit Che Bar on Saturday January 29.
