The final Fylde Arts Buffet talk of the season will be given on Friday at 2pm by Eddie Taylor at Lytham Assembly Rooms.
Eddie is the secretary of Fylde Arts but previously was a senior lecturer in mathematics and statistics at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.
During his career he developed a passion for recreational mathematics – the basis of his illustrated talk.
Titled Now There’s An Interesting Problem!, it’s a light-hearted talk aimed at people with a non-mathematical background and looks at some of the most famous problems in mathematics including: colouring maps, a bridge-crossing problem which was bombed by the allies in 1944 and which led to the London Underground map, a problem about stacking bricks, a brief history of suduko and one about choosing in a quiz show.
Tickets are available for the talk and buffet at £8. Because of catering requirements advance booking is preferred on (01772) 682987.
