Can it really be 50 years since the most successful folk/rock duo of all time recorded their first hit single The Sound of Silence?
The Simon and Garfunkel Story, at Manchester’s Palace Theatre on Wednesday (not far from the site of the pair’s memorable 60s Manchester concert at the Odeon), tells their story in film and song. Featuring seasoned West End award-winner Dean Elliott (Buddy Holly in Buddy - The Musical) and a full cast of actor- musicians, The Simon and Garfunkel Story takes audiences back to the ‘groovy 60s’ when Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were rock ‘n’ roll duo Tom and Jerry, through their successes, dramatic break-up and finishing with a re-creation of the 1981 Central Park concert.
The show features 1960s photos and film footage whilst a full live band perform all their hits including Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, Sound of Silence and more. Box office: (0161) 245 6600 or www.thesimonandgarfunkelstory.com
