An Over Wyre library is shining after securing a unique talk for its borrowers.

Knott End Library is welcoming “Mr Lights” himself, Illuminations chief Richard Ryan to give a talk on the history of Blackpool Illuminations on Thursday at 2pm.

Library Manager, Glenn Pollock, says: “It’s the centenary year of the Illuminations and with them having being switched on by Olympic medal winners, it’s a great honour for the library to feature such a unique talk. I’m sure it will enlighten and interest anyone who attends.”

* Poulton Library has lined up a busy October.

There’s a special Winnie The Witch storytime on Tuesday, October 9 from 2 to 2.45pm and some not too scary Halloween stories on October 30.

The poetry group meeting on October 8 from 2 to 3.30pm has an October theme of Autumn Jewels.

There’s the opportunity to meet international award winning crime author Stephen Booth on Wednesday, October 17 at 6.30pm.

Tickets at £2 each (including light refreshment) are available from the library.

On Thursday, October 25, at 2.15pm there is a talk by Colin Penny from Lancaster Castle Museum titled The Lancashire Witches: The Story of the Pendle Witch Trials.

Admission is free and tickets are available from the library.

Especially for half tern there is Come To The Circus with juggler Thomas Bounce entertaining youngster aged five to 11 (1 to 2pm.

Admission £1 ticket only.

Other events include Baby Bounce and Rhyme every Monday and Friday (10 to 10.30am); adult reading groups on Thursday October 11 (7 to 8pm and October 17 (11am to noon).
