BLACKPOOL’S own King of Disco, Lionel Vinyl is back in town for a reunion of his staff and local funksters who used to be involved at his town centre bar.

With his former Clifton Street venue about to re-open as a Burlesque bar, Lionel will be hosting his Funky Party with all his old staff and management at the Catholic Club on Queen Street on Friday, October 28.

“I’ve not had much time to perform in town since closing the bar four years ago because of corporate and celebrity gigs taking me all over the UK and Europe,” says Lionel. “My latest celeb gig got me another mention in OK magazine from Liverpool captain Stevie Gerrard’s partner Alex, who had me entertain at her baby shower with her friends and wags.”

The re-union will start at 8pm and tickets which guarantee admission are available from the Catholic Club.

They are priced £2 which will be donated to the Positive Youth Trust which helps youngsters in school with self esteem and bullying issues – a cause which has become Lionel’s main passion to help others help themselves.

“I can’t wait to get together with all the Lionel’s gang, especially the staff who made the bar so special,” he said. “I hope they still have the energy for dancing to all the moves, especially their trademark Hand Jive.

“We may even get a dance from our very old manager Peter Dolan, who has organised this special party. Mama Lionel Eleanor, who was our assistant manager, has even flown back from her Spanish retreat to join us. It’s going to be sensational.”
