Blackpool-based singing star Joe Longthorne is returning to Layton Institute for a special show more than 30 years after his first appearance there.

The Tuesday, December 20 date is a thank you to fellow Blackpool performer Leye D Johns, who is currently touring with Joe and who is producing the venue’s summer show as well as starring in its Christmas one.

“I’ve enjoyed the tour so much this year and with Leye working so hard with me to make it such a great success I thought it only fitting to round things off for 2011 with an intimate show at Leye’s new Christmas home in the Cabaret Lounge at Layton as a way of saying thank you to him for all his efforts,” said Joe. “The last time I worked Layton, I got the call from ITV all those years ago. It brings back great memories.”

The performance to just 250 guests in an intimate setting is a rare type of gig for Joe and his entourage,

“Leye’s done great things at The Layton,” said Joe’s musical director Andy Mudd. “They do a great job in transforming it for Christmas and it’s a great setting for an up close and personal gig with very special people.”

Leye added: “This will cap off what has been a most memorable and exciting year for me.

“If you’d have asked me two years ago I just wouldn’t have thought this possible given where I was and what I was doing.

“It was a big step going out on the road and I haven’t looked back since.

“Joe is an international star, this is a major coup for myself personally and for my company Dudley Leisure and we are really looking forwards to welcoming Joe’s fans and putting on an evening to remember.

“I’d personally like to thank Joe for taking the time out to put this into his diary.”

The announcement comes just two weeks after Leye announced he was set to return to the newly named Cabaret Lounge for a Christmas season from December 2 running through to January.

Dinner and show packages for the Joe Longthorne night start at £55 for a three course dinner with reserved VIP seating included.
