Singer Joan Armatrading has cancelled her concert in Blackpool tonight due to illness.

The performer had been set to appear at the Grand Theatre this evening but the venue was contacted by the star’s management this morning to say the gig was off.

Andrew Howard, marketing manager, said: “We have been following Joan’s health closely and were contacted early this morning by Joan’s management to advise us that she was still unwell and therefore this evening’s show can not go ahead.

“We are clearly very disappointed, but wish Joan a speedy recovery. We are looking to reschedule a new date for November. All customers will be contacted by our box office as quickly as possible to see if they would prefer a refund or tickets for the new date.”.

The concert is now set to take place on November 22.
