The Soul Acoustic Duo - husband and wife Mark and Asia Yarwood have landed a residency at The Cedar Tavern in Cedar Square every Tuesday evening.

Mark started his music career in the early 1990’s and was regularly seen playing drums alongside the late keyboard player Colin Hadley at venues all over Blackpool.

He recalls his first gig at the Queens Hotel Theatre Bar playing drums for the singing acts who had entered the Thursday night talent contest then hosted by the late Bernard Jackson.

“It was a real learning curve keeping the music tempo and a straight face when some of the acts were out of time and out of tune,” he said.

Over the past 20 years Mark has worked with the likes of Joe Longthorne and 90’s pop star Kenny Thomas. Eight years ago he formed his own function band – J.C and The Groove – which is where he met his future wife Asia.

She hails from Poland and studied jazz and popular music from an early age. On graduating in Poland she performed on several Polish TV shows as a solo artist and became a finalist on the Polish TV edition of Star for a Night . She performed with a rock band in Poland for several years, moving to the UK in 2005 and joining Mark’s band.

They married about a year ago.
