Love/Life - Lawrence House Studio

Those in the packed main house at the Grand watching Russell Kane, missed a rare treat taking place in the more intimate space of the Matcham Court studio theatre, when Red 2 Theatre Company featuring five accomplished vocalists, poured out their hearts and souls in a funny yet moving collection of songs reliving the path of wanting, finding, unrequited and losing Love.

Not a whisper of a Phantom was heard, no French flag was waved. Hardened musical addicts thankfully listened to the best of new contemporary love songs from the UK and abroad and relished every minute. From the stylish setting and theme of red and black, to the slick scene changes, the audience were entranced, as not only were the performers accomplished vocally, they were all superb actors.

Highlights included A Stud & A Babe – comic genius performed by Michael Cosgrove and Kay Trayford, In Short – performed wonderfully by Gaz Jenkins, Last Day On Earth sung with silky smooth and rich vocal tones by Emma Norman, and With You – a heart stopping song from Ghost: The Musical, sung with convincing emotion by Charlotte Dalton. The artists were also blessed to be supported by top class musical director, Pete Faint.

The audience lived through every emotional minute with these passionate performers on a roller-coaster of Love/Life and demand They Keep Coming Back.
