The two planned December dates for former chart topper Ricky Valance (below) at Blackpool Philharmonic Club have been cancelled due to “health and other issues,” says the show’s promoter, but hopes are high that a re-booking can be made for sometime in 2013.

Stuart McNeal who produces and directs the shows for Big One Productions said: “We are very sad that these gigs will not be going ahead but we are hopeful a date will be set for 2013 and we wish Ricky and his team all the very best.

“Ticketmaster who do our online bookings have been told about the gigs being cancelled and are now contacting people to offer refunds or move them to another show. As soon as we have the new dates we will let everyone know.

“We don’t like to pull gigs but we had no choice in the matter in this case. However our Christmas line up is still as big as ever – at The Ashley Club in Thornton we still have live in concert on December 8 The Jane McDonald Show, the UK’s only tribute to the singer; December 14 Mark Paul is Meatloaf in concert and on December 16 local band Trident are live in concert.”
