Uncle Tom’s Cabin plays host to one of its biggest ever rock nights on Thursday when The Hawklords fly in.
The visit is to promote the first new studio album from the band – which features several former Hawkwind members in its line-up – in 34 years, and was released last month.
Comprising all brand new material, the album features key former Hawkwind personnel – the legendary synth man Harvey Bainbridge (original member of Hawklords’ 1978 line-up and long serving member and writer with Hawkwind 1977 to 1993), keyboard wizard Steve Swindells, guitarist and vocalist Jerry Richards (veteran of the UK free festival scene of the 1980s, lead guitarist, writer and producer with Hawkwind, 90s to Noughties), punk poet Ron Tree on vocals, oscillators and swazzle (survivor of the 1980s UK free festival scene and lead vocalist, bassist and writer with Hawkwind, 90s to noughties), the bass of Adrian Shaw (writer with Hawkwind for the classic Quark, Strangeness & Charm and PXR5 albums 1975 to 1977) plus Dave Pearce from The Bevis Frond on drums (session player and most recent addition to The Hawklords line-up).
The band will be performing new and classic material down the ages in a two-hour set with digital light show by Big Dave’s Lighthouse.
The album We Are One was released in the UK on September 24 and in the USA the day after.
