Syd Little has been in showbusiness longer than many of us have been alive.

The man who forged a career as one half of Little and Large is still performing as a solo artist and this weekend celebrates 50 years in the business.

Local band The Blue Pig Orchestra are hosting a party at the Strawberry Gardens pub on Poulton Road in Fleetwood, at which Little is guest of honour.

It starts at 8pm, all are welcome.

The Fort San Antone Country Music Festival, featuring some of the best talent in country music, takes place at Great Birchwood Country Park on Lytham Road.

The event starts tonight and ends Sunday and features the likes of Gary Quinn, The Fabulous Picasso Brothers and Mad Jack and The Hatters. Roberts in on stage tomorrow afternoon.

* Local artist Alan Hope has an exhibition at the Kiln House Gallery in Thornton Cleveleys .

Entitled Watercolour Scenes, his work will be on display every weekend from tomorrow until November 17. The gallery, in Marsh Mill, is open 10.30am to 4.30pm Saturday and Sundays.
