An evening of Burlesque - Grand Theatre, Blackpool
IT was sequins, stilettos, stockings and a whole bucket of sauciness as An Evening of Burlesque sent temperatures soaring at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
An audience of mainly women painted their faces and pulled on their glad rags for a night of dry humour and worship of all things feminine.
From sizzling striptease with balloons, feathers, fans, hula hoops and even a bit of Little Bo Peep – seven sultry glamour pusses provided an evening of rather elegant entertainment.
A deadpan dragon – Piff –complete with a Chihuahua – Mr Piffles – completed the comedy line up with his fairly rubbish magic but brilliantly indifferent delivery.
Lingerie model Slinky Sparkles brought some Hollywood glamour as she dished up cupcakes in little more than a pair of tassels, a seemingly intoxicated Kalki Hula Girl also had heads in a spin with a breathtaking routine.
Rochdale starlet Amber Topaz gave Beyonce a run for her money as she shook her behind and belted out the show tunes.
Chrys Columbine showed her talents – and her piano playing – but seemed a little lacking in charisma compared with the other performers.
The focus was firmly on humour and despite the acres of female flesh on display, the show is tasteful throughout.
