Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo is bringing his nationwide hunt to celebrate home cooked dishes with family heritage to Blackpool.
The brand new ITV1 series called There’s No Taste like Home will transmit later this year and Gino will be hosting an episode of the new cookery programme at The Sands Venue’s new sea view restaurant on Thursday May 26.
In each show he will meet three home cooks, each boasting a treasured recipe that has been passed down through their family for generations.
Gino and the viewers will learn the secrets of these treasured family recipes and discover the fascinating family stories, first hand, of how they have evolved over the generations.
Gino says: “I want to taste good, honest, home cooked food - just like mamma used to make. I was inspired by my grandfather who was head chef for a cruise ship company. His favourite dish, and something I make for my children today, was gnocchi al pomodoro. This dish made me fall in love with cooking and become a chef. I’m convinced there are hundreds more fantastic stories and family dishes just like mine out there.”
Gino and the three home cooks will take over the Sands’ lunch service which provides am ideal backdrop with its plush interior and sea views. The contestants will prepare, cook and serve their dishes exactly the way they’ve been made for years to prove to the paying customers that “There’s No Taste Like Home.”
Gino will judge which of the three dishes will win a regular place on The Sands’ menu for a month and give customers the opportunity to try them for themselves.
The Sands is now taking reservations for 50 paying customers to be part of this special lunch service. Bookings on (01253) 625262.
