A procession wound its way around the streets of North Shore before the festivities began in Claremont Park, on Claremont Road.

Coun Ivan Taylor, who was at the event, said: “It went very well and it was a nice day weather-wise, which was important. We had a good turnout and the procession got a good reception.

“Once we got on the field we had the crowning of the Gala Queen Paige Blandford, from Claremont Primary School.”

The field hosted a range of family activities, including a range of sporting events, such as golf and football.
