THE Grapevine pub in Poulton is about to embark on a series of monthly concerts to raise money for charity.
Sam Aga, who works behind the bar, has come up with the idea after deciding it was about time he gave something back.
“I turned 40 not so long ago and I suddenly decided I wanted to do something to help others,” he said.
“I’ve signed up to be a cricket coach and now I want to get these charity nights up and running.”
The first event takes place at the Grapevine on Friday January 31 when local band Flip, pictured right, will be playing. There will also be a charity raffle and a football card to raise money. Proceeds from the night are going to Chloe’s Wish 2 Walk, a charity raising money to send 10-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Chloe New to America for surgery to help her walk unaided.
“We decided on that charity because we asked on Facebook what people would like us to raise money for and this was by far the good cause that got the biggest vote,” added Sam.
“So we’re starting with this and then we’ve got a lot of other charities we want to in future events.”
Anyone who wishes to donate items for the raffle should contact the pub on 01253 896700.
The charity night is free to enter, though customers are invited to give a donation at the door.
