Final recital crosses the musical Pennines

Tomorrow’s last of the Lytham series of Fylde Arts Mid Day Recitals at the Lytham Assembly Rooms, will be given at 2pm by the Pennine Piano Quartet – Julian Cann (violin), Wendy Cann (viola), Robert Buller (cello) and Philip Kubilius (piano).

Julian is well-known as leader of the Stonebridge and Casalia String Quartets, the Pennine Trio and the Haffner Orchestra. He has performed concertos with orchestras in the North West and Scotland and as a member of the Pictish Scottish Country Dance Band has played in London, Paris, Vienna and Venice.

Wendy Cann, who joins the Pennine Trio to form this quartet, is Julian’s mother and a professional viola player of considerable experience as chamber musician, orchestral player, leader and in demand as a teacher.

Robert performs with many professional string quartets and orchestras and has given many successful solo recitals. As a session musician, he performs and records with various folk and popular bands.

Philip is known throughout Lancashire and the North West as soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He has accompanied many famous singers and instrumentalists and has appeared in various ways in the Fylde Arts recitals.

For many years he has been head of keyboard at the Blackburn School of Music.

The recital includes piano quartets by Brahms and Schumann. Admission is £7 (£5 for Fylde Arts members).
