IT’S a father and son reunion for Blackpool’s longest established DJ tonight.
The legend that is Peter Schofield will be sharing the limelight with his 19-year old son John behind the decks at Che Bar for the first in a weekly series of early doors warm-ups leading to a full scale launch on July 29.
“DJ’ing is something that Josh has been asking to do for the last couple of years and I think that now is the right time,” said Peter. “But I don’t want him to be one of those bedroom DJs with no personality and no idea how to control an audience so I’m giving him the sort of training that I had.”
Peter who has owned and operated various venues in the resort over the years, and appeared at just about every Blackpool nightclub since the 1970s, says he is confident Josh has got what it takes to brighten up the local scene.
“I’ve nothing against dance DJs in dance venues but Che Bar is a party place, and a DJ in there needs to have a wide variety of music on hand and know his audience well,” said Peter. “Josh and I will be warming things up from 8 until 11pm for next few Fridays. I’m sure he will make a super DJ – especially with the right training. It’s not just about standing there playing records.”
