A landmark entertainment spectacle will take place this month to cap off a Blackpool fund-raiser’s remarkable hat-trick of milestones.
Ian Coleman has notched up 25 years as president of the Royal British Legion club on King Street.
It comes months after the resort’s Poppython –to raise money for the armed forces charity – also hit the quarter century mark.
And in 2013, he hit the same milestone in his role as president of the Legion’s Blackpool branch, which handles the welfare side of the club – a job he has since stepped down from.
Mr Coleman, who is also a Blackpool councillor, said: “It is a celebration of three quarter century milestones. More than 1,100 acts have appeared on the bill here in that time – and not one has had a penny in payment or expenses.”
Under his stewardship, the club has raised more than £134,000 for the charity, wining awards for its annual Poppython fund-raiser.
The event starts at 1pm at the Royal British Legion club, on King Street, on June 20. Comedian Johnnie Casson is among the acts confirmed to play.
