It used to be known as Fleetwood’s dirtiest restaurant.
But now a businessman has turned round a pizzeria’s fortunes by getting it the top five star hygiene rating in just a matter of months.
Mr Paiman, who took over the running of the business in January this year, vowed to change the takeaway’s fortunes after a Gazette report in February exposed the grimiest places to eat on the Fylde coast in 2012.
After being inspected two weeks later and given three stars, Mr Paiman was still not satisfied and invited the health inspectors to come back again at the earliest opportunity.
They returned on July 11 and on Tuesday, he received his five star rating from Wyre Council.
He said: “I was very happy and it’s the first good news I’ve had since taking over the shop.
“It’s a very important thing to have because some customers go online before they come in, and they will have seen the certificate.”
And Mr Paiman says he is keen to maintain the very highest standards of hygiene and food safety, a point he makes explicitly to his staff on a regular basis.
He said: “My staff have to watch a DVD on hygiene and food safety before they start working here and I’ve made a leaflet all about food safety for them to read.
“I tell the staff why they have to do these things on a daily basis.”
