A US reality TV star is jetting into Blackpool for a debut appearance in the resort this weekend.
Jujubee has been one of the hit stars from cult TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race, and tomorrow night, she’ll be headlining Brandy’s at the Mardi, formerly Mardi Gras on Talbot Road.
Anthony West, also known as Brandy Babycham, said: “This is the first time ever that a star from the US series has ever performed in Blackpool.
“A few venues up and down the country have gotten together to be able to bring Jujubee to town, and we hope it will be a big hit.
“RuPaul’s show has become a bit of a cult hit, thanks to the internet and people are quite into it, even though it’s not been on TV in the UK – although there have been rumours of Jonathan Ross producing a UK version, and Michelle Visage, one of the judges, was recently on Celebrity Big Brother here.”
Jujubee has been one of the stars of the show, which follows international drag artist RuPaul searching for the next queen of drag.
The Boston-born artist is of Lao ancestry, is something of a pocket rocket and will put on her show combining live and lip-synced routines with a Q&A session.
Fans can opt for a platinum pass, with limited availability, including a meet and greet and photo opportunity.
Anthony added: “Jujubee is very little but very feisty.
“He was in the second series and took part in the all stars series, too.
“He’s stunning looking, beautiful, but about two-foot tall.
“I’m 6ft 5in without heels, so that should be fun on the night.”
Platinum tickets, including printed photo, cost £20 in advance from www.bookjujubee.eventbrite.co.uk, with a limited number on the door.
Standard entry on the night costs £5.
