Controversial comedienne and actress Crissy Rock is to headline her own summer show every Thursday at North Pier’s Merrie England Bar.

The show, called From Bedlam to Benidorm to Blackpool runs weekly from June 2 to the end of August when she starts filming the new series of Benidorm in which she also stars.

The Blackpool show also features Rod Stewart tribute act Jack Danson and the Vegas Showgirls.

Crissy, whose autobiography – This Heart Within Me Burns: From Bedlam To Benidorm – was published in March will be doing a signing session at Waterstone’s in Blackpool on the day of the season show’s opening from 1 to 3pm.

With a new series of Benidorm just finished, Crissy Rock’s candid and inspiring story reveals a personal history that few could imagine:

The book is a warts and all life story of Crissy, who was born and bred in the back streets of Liverpool and whose young life was plunged into darkness at the age of eight, when her grandfather began to abuse her both physically and sexually.

Pregnant and married to a violent bully at 16 it seemed that trouble and turmoil would always be with her but once having escaped her violent marriage, she began to turn her life around.

She tells of her first experience as a performer when a friend bet her that she wouldn’t dare enter a stand-up competition.

She ended up being runner up in the North West region.

Establishing herself on the comedy circuit she was then cast in the film Ladybird Ladybird for which she won Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival.

From there, Crissy became a familiar face on television, landing roles in a host of popular programmes including Brazen Hussies, alongside Julie Walters.

Now best known for her role in cult comedy TV hit, Benidorm and for playing Maggie Conlon in Ladybird Ladybird, Crissy Rock remains a hugely popular actress and comedienne.

Tickets for the Merrie England are £10, reserved seating £12, VIP meet and greet (includes buffet) £15 or meal and show package £22 (meal served at the Sands Venue bistro on Central Promenade).
