When Charlotte Holden and a group of friends visited the up-market bar and eaterie Mojito on Henry Street in Lytham she had no idea that she would soon be serving up some of the popular cocktails they were drinking.

Whilst her friends threw themselves into the task of trying a variety of cocktails mixed to order and watching how their chosen drink was being made, she had the idea that other people might also like to know how to make the drinks and that it could make for an entertaining evening.

Coupled with the skills of Mojito proprietor Orlando Perraca, who has won many awards for his cocktail making ability, Charlotte’s idea has become reality and the Masterclass in Cocktails and Dreams has been launched.

Working together with Orlando the first event was a huge hit.

Charlotte says: “The idea just came to me as we were watching the cocktails being mixed and I wanted to know how to do it myself.

“It’s a really fun thing to do, but to be able to mix them properly like the professionals do is even better.”

The Wednesday Master Class sees customers allowed behind the bar to mix their own drinks and learn some of the secrets of the trade under the supervision of Orlando and his highly skilled team – Joe, Scott and Andrina.

Customers get to drink what they make – three of Mojito’s most popular cocktails for £15 – which also includes a selection of the popular bar’s tapas.

Orlando Peracca said: “The first event was fun and enjoyable and as the price is less than normal for our cocktails and the teaching is thrown in for free, we think Wednesday will become a very busy night for us at Mojito.”
