* The award-winning Poulton Library hosts a special event for a local author tomorrow.

Eric Curbishley recently published his book on the men behind Poulton War Memorial and will be signing copies of it from 11am.

With the monument being at the heart of the town, Mr Curbishley, will also be giving a talk about its history and taking questions from the audience.

Elaine Bevan, manager at Poulton Library, said: “Having local authors chat about their books helps to ensure that the library stays at the heart of the community.”

Free tickets for the event are available from the library. More details are available from (01253) 888900.

* Members of Lytham Amateur Operatics Society are presenting two special concerts this month.

The first is at St Joseph’s Church in Ansdell on Saturday, November 12 at 7.15pm and the second at The White Church, Fairhaven a week later at 7.30pm.

Both are directed by Mandy Hall and feature youngsters from the Emily Laws School of Acting.

A Musical Extravaganza will feature songs from Chicago, Brigadoon, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.

Tickets are £6 each from the churches or on the door and include a hotpot supper at St Joseph’s Church but not at the White Church.
