The annual Showzam! festival transforms Blackpool into a world of the weird and wonderful and this Circus Carnival is a great way to launch things.

The show offers a mix of gymnastics and balancing acts from around the world but the focus is still on comedy. With his huge feet and silly hat Mooky, performing alongside his brother Mr Boo, is the epitome of childish humour and provides a break from the nerve-wracking athletic stunts performed throughout the show.

A few of the comedy couple’s one liners may have fallen by the wayside but their overall performance filled the young audience with delight.

The highlight being a boxing ring sketch involving a member of the audience fighting with Mooky in slow motion.

The Stoyan Troupe from Romania stunned the audience with heroic gymnastics and the Big American Wheel was so big the lights on the Tower Circus Arena ceiling had to be removed so tightrope walker Simet Laslo didn’t hit his head. Local talent from the Langley Dance Centre flew the flag for Blackpool with sparkling costumes and well-rehearsed dance sequences.

The show runs until Sunday February 27.
