Miss Blackpool is back in town – with the launch tomorrow night of the 2011 search for local beauty.
The current Miss Blackpool, Ella Green, will be on hand to welcome the first batch of hopefuls to this year’s competition – being held for the first time at Coco’s next to Che Bar on Market Street.
The prestigious pageant is open to all women aged 18 to 30 who are proud to represent the town. They can be married, single or engaged and do not have to be childless.
Heats take place every Thursday from this week until August 4 with the grand final taking place on August 19.
Heats are conducted in club wear which means contestants can enter the competition and then party all night in Coco.
During the heats all contestants will be judged on their looks and personality and answer questions abut their occupation, hobbies and ambitions.
Each year the winner of Miss Blackpool goes on to be crowned Queen of the Lights at the Blackpool Illuminations switch-on ceremony.
If you think you have got what it takes you can enter on the night between 7.30 and 8.30pm – or pick up an application form at Coco and the Che Bar before the event.
Admission to take part or simply watch is free.
“It’s been a great year and I’m not looking forward to handing over the crown to someone else,” said Ella. “But I will be on hand every week to give any tips and guidance to this year’s contestants.
“It’s a great competition and a great confidence booster. I’ve done so many different things and met so many new people it’s been a real experience.”
