Rhydian Roberts and Rachel Adedeji have been announced for the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar which comes to Blackpool Opera House in March.
Starring in the title role is Glenn Carter, who has previously played Jesus in the West End and on Broadway, as well as in a film version of the show from 2000.
The UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar runs at the Winter Gardens theatre from March 10 to 14, produced by Bill Kenwright with the Really Useful Group.
Rhydian Roberts was a runner up on The X Factor in 2007 and has gone on to forge a successful stage career, with appearances in shows including The Rocky Horror Show and We Will Rock You. He also joined Michael Ball, Lesley Harrett and Kerry Ellis with the Halle Orchestra for the closing night of Lytham Proms in the summer.
The cast also includes Tim Rogers, who will play Judas, and X Factor live shows contestant Rachel Adedeji as Mary Magdalene.
The musical will be directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright, with choreography by Carole Todd, lighting by Nick Richings and sound by Dan Samson.
The rock opera tells the story of the last seven days of Jesus’s life, through a ground-breaking score featuring songs such as I Don’t Know How To Love Him and Gethsemane.
