An arts festival which has acted as a springboard for ambitious youngsters in Blackpool is set to take the town by storm again this weekend.

Under The Town showcases music, dance, film and art produced by 30 teenagers completing their Arts Award with Blackpool Arts Service.

The festival takes place in the Spanish Hall and Winter Gardens this Sunday, November 16, from 2pm to 5pm.

The annual event will this year showcase performances from six dance groups, as well as photos, paintings and interactive displays.

Kerry Vasiliou, education officer for Grundy Art Gallery, said: “The young people have spent over six months preparing artwork and performances with creative professionals as part of their awards.”

Previous participants include art student Hannah Nickson who has created her own clothing brand, Dead Pigeon, since exhibiting her work at the festival.

Exhibitions this year include an ambitious art
installation of a giant cardboard box which reveals an attic of memories on the inside, and a series of experimental films exploring identity.
