It was a stressful first outing for Dancing on Ice’s ‘Team Blackpool’... but Hayley Tamaddon and Dan Whiston have survived the first round of the hit show.
Fylde coast pair Hayley and Dan – who were childhood friends and reunited for Dancing on Ice back in 2010 – are one of the skating couples competing in the final series of the ITV show.
They performed first on Sunday night, wowing the judges with the fun routine to Call Me Maybe which earned them 25.5 out of 40 points.
Dan, from Poulton, said it was a huge relief to find out the voting public had saved them from elimination.
He said: “It was one of the most stressful performances we’ve done, so it’s such a relief to go through.
“The competition is so high, it was so unpredictable. No-one knew who was going to go.”
Hollyoaks actress Jorgi Porter and comic Joe Pasquale were voted off the show.
Hayley, from Bispham, was told by the judging panel that they would be expecting a lot from her, given how she won series five of the show.
Dan said: “This is the Champion of Champions series, so they are going to be tough on all the celebrities and pushing them to be the best they can.
“We’re still rehearsing hard and we’re not going to rest on our laurels.”
Next week Blackpool coach Katie Stainsby will perform with her celebrity partner Gary Lucy.
Nolan sister spared exit
Linda Nolan has been saved from eviction from the latest Celebrity Big Brother.
The Nolan sister entered the famous house on Friday night, and won immunity from tomorrow’s eviction with fellow contestant Jim Davidson for having the most star-studded life stories.
The duo spent the first days in the house shackled together. Linda had earlier revealed she had been living on benefits for the past two-and-a-half years before entering the house.
