YOUNG dancers will have their time to shine when they perform alongside Strictly Come Dancing stars in Fleetwood.
Performers from the Phyllis Davies School of Dance, in Cleveleys, have been asked to star alongside Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas, stars of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The duo have scouted the dance troupe for a performance at Fleetwood Marine Hall next Spring.
Now the dancers cannot wait to get started on their routine to dance with Katya, a Latin dance champion, and Pasha, who made it to the final of last year’s Strictly with partner, actress Chelsee Healey.
Phyllis Davies said she was delighted to be approached for the show.
She said: “The children are very excited about being part of the show. They’re all big Strictly fans.
“When they heard they would be dancing with Strictly’s Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas, there was such excitement.”
Around 40 of the school’s 90 dancers will be taking part in ‘An Evening with Stars from Strictly Come Dancing’ on April 21, as part of its national tour.
Choreographer Kathryn Mather, Mrs Davies’ daughter, will be putting together the routines for two numbers at their base on Ritherham Avenue, Cleveleys.
The performance will add to a long list of professional productions done by the school in recent years, including putting on shows at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Paris and at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
The children have also been involved in charity shows, helping to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation last year.
Mrs Davies added: “This is probably our biggest show to date. They’ve danced all over the place though so hopefully this show will be very good.”
The show will also feature a Q&A session with the Strictly stars.
Tickets are now on sale from Marine Hall, Fleetwood on (01253) 887693 or online at www.marinehall.co.uk.
