AN Olympic star is set to get a hero’s welcome when she heads to the Fylde coast.
Gold-medal winning athlete Jessica Ennis is heading to Kirkham bookshop Silverdell later this month, and co-owner Elaine Silverwood is preparing to pull out all the stops to welcome Britain’s golden girl.
And giving her a helping hand will be troops from Weeton barracks, who will be aiming to raise their profile outside the Poulton Street shop.
Elaine said: “The Weeton Barracks mascot Roary the Lion will be joining us and he will be accompanied by uniformed soldiers who will be raising money by selling wrist bands and shaking tins for soldiers serving in Afghanistan and their families.”
Ennis – who memorably triumphed in the gruelling heptathlon event at this summer’s games – will be at the shop on Tuesday, November 27, at 5.30pm to sign copies of her autobiography, Unbelievable.
It is her only North West signing and tickets – priced at £20 including the book - are available Silverdell on (01772) 683444.
