The original ‘funny girl’ Betty Legs Diamond is back in the bright lights of Blackpool again this autumn.

Betty, now based in Newcastle, made a sell-out return to the resort’s Viva... Blackpool! cabaret show bar in July.

Now she’s set to appear over two nights in the Betty Legs Diamond Show – Illuminations Spectacular at the Church Street venue on Monday and Tuesday, October 27 and 28.

Viva... Blackpool! host Leye D Johns is delighted to announce the return.

He said: “Betty is back in town, and after people were queuing around the block last time round to see her perform in an amazing show, we’re sure there’s going to be even more demand for tickets this time around, so we’ve scheduled in two nights.”

She will be joined by her fabulous cast of dancers along with witty hostess Miss Rory, promising a night of sequins, sparkle and showbiz high kicks.

Betty Legs Diamond was one of the founders of the now legendary Funny Girls club, in Dickson Street, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, but quit the venue and the North West for Newcastle in 2010.

Speaking earlier this year Simon Green, the dancer, choreographer and performer behind Betty, said he was happy to be coming back to the town and welcomed recent changes.

He said: “It has been four years since I left, but I was here for a long time before that.

“I got to know a lot of people; I have a lot of friends and fans still around who aren’t able to come and see the show at Boulevard in Newcastle, so they are always asking when are you coming back, when can we see you.

“The town has changed and it’s nice to see investment, eventually,” he said. “It had been left to rack and ruin.

“They were starting the prom when I left, but the Comedy Carpet and area round the station is great now.

“They are taking it back to a more wholesome resort.”

Tickets cost £14 for reserved seating or £39.90 including three-course dinner. Betty’s show’s start at 7.30pm, with doors from 5.30pm and last entry for dinner at 6pm. The show is for over 16s only.
