THE skies above Blackpool will be lit up tonight when the World Fireworks Championships return to the resort.
Canada, France and Australia will be vying for supremacy in the contest, with the Canadian team, FAE Pyrotechnie, hoping to dazzle the crowds at North Pier tonight.
France’s Brezac Artifices will take to the skies next Friday, while Australia’s Howard & Sons will make their attempt for the crown in a fortnight’s time.
The festival will be rounded off on September 28 with a display by British-based Kimbolton Fireworks.
Natalie Wyatt, managing director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “We will all be looking forward to witnessing some spectacular displays and welcoming many people into the resort.”
Each display in the competition is free to watch with spectator viewing areas found on North Promenade and at the Tower Festival Headland.
