A FYLDE Coast travel writer will be appearing alongside literary luminaries such as Will Self at a major festival.
Alan Whelan, who has written two books about his travels in Africa, is to give an illustrated talk at the 10th Leigh and Wigan Words Together Literary Festival.
Along with Booker Prize nominee Will Self and poet Lemn Sissay MBE, Alan will be giving readings of his work.
Alan, of St Annes, has made three epic motorcycle journeys in Africa which led to books, African Brew Ha Ha and The Black Stars of Ghana.
The first tells the tale of his ride from Lancashire to Cape Town in search of the perfect cup of tea and the second tells of a journey round Ghana as their football team played in the 2010 World Cup finals.
The festival runs from April 1 to 13 and includes workshops and competitions.
