SAUCY book fans have found a new place to indulge their obsession - a top tourist attraction.
Blackpool Tower Dungeon said it has noticed a surge in middle aged women visiting its torture chamber since risque novel Fifty Shades of Grey became a phenomenon.
And now the dungeon has hired two new torturers to keep an eye on its handcuffs and chains.
Garry Blackadder, general manager of the dungeon, said: “We have noticed an increase in the number of females visiting to see the torture show over the last few weeks.
“And there seems to have been much more pointing and giggling at the props than previously. We just assumed that the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon was giving the show a rather more ‘adult’ appeal than before.”
“The Fifty Shades of Grey effect is clearly boosting our visitor numbers right now especially among groups of middle aged women.”
