Dancers from Blackpool will be heading north for Lancashire Youth Dance Festival next month.

Young people from across the county will be dancing in the streets, with performers from Fylde Youth Dance Company, Aspire Youth Dance and Outward Focus taking part.

The Dukes theatre (pictured) and Ludus Dance have joined forces for the seventh annual showcase of dance on May 15 and 16.

Participating dance groups have been selected to take part on the basis of their enthusiasm for exploring new dance styles, choreography and daring to try something different.

A spokesman for the festival said: “Their performances will thrill and entertain both enthusiasts and those new to dance with everything from contemporary and physical theatre to street dance.

“To whet appetites for this feast of fancy footwork, from May 11 to 14 professional dancers will be surprising shoppers with mini performances at various locations across Lancaster city centre.”

Each day of dance for the festival will culminate at 4pm in Market Square with a ‘dance spectacular’ by the young companies.

Tickets for the Lancashire Youth Dance Festival evening showcases at The Dukes are on sale now, priced at £8/£6 concessions, from (01524) 598500 or online at
