A popular Blackpool attraction has created some stunning artwork with a difference to mark World Oceans Day.

To raise awareness about the importance of protecting the sea and the creatures within it, the attraction appealed to the local community asking for donations of household rubbish items, which often end up in the ocean, causing harm to the delicate marine life.

Items collected, which included plastic bags, plastic bottles and ring pulls, were used by the Sealife Blackpool team to create a piece of art on Blackpool Promenade.

Made from giant letters, the words Sea Life were positioned on the Prom to encourage passers-by to stop and think about protecting the oceans.

World Oceans Day, which took place yesterday, is an international day which celebrates the oceans and supports action to protect them,

Sealife Blackpool works to protect every part of the oceans and the sea life that lives within it and is involved with a community beach clean programme that helps to keep Blackpool beach at its very best.

The attraction has been welcoming guests for more than 20 years. To find out more about Blackpool beach cleans visit www.visitsealife.com/blackpool.
