As the first band to reach the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent, in 2012, and with performances for the Queen and as part of the Olympic and Paralympic celebrations, the yellow-suited musicians have established themselves as the UK’s top jive and swing band.

And next month they come to Blackpool’s Sands Venue to share their high energy jump jive music, combining swing and rock ‘n’ roll, and exciting stage show.

A spokesman for Sands said: “The band combines a mixture of fresh arrangements of swing, jive and R’n’B classics originally made famous by such greats as Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Bobby Darin, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Big Joe Turner and Sammy Davis Jnr – along with a selection of originals taken from their studio albums.

“Over the years they have worked alongside the likes of John Travolta, Status Quo, Isaac Hayes, Van Morrison, the Count Basie Orchestra, Keely Smith, Priscilla Presley, Buddy Greco, Kenny Ball, Chuck Berry, Tony Christie and Lee Evans, to name just a few.”

The band has been featured on hundreds of TV and radio shows, including playing live every Wednesday night on BBC Radio London’s Late Nights show with Jo Good.

They have released seven studio albums, one dance compilation and a skiffle EP. Their most recent album – King of the Swingers: A Salute to Louis Prima – features guest appearances from Kenny Ball, Ray Gelato, Toni Elizabeth Prima and more, and is on the Golden Age Recordings label.

The band began as the Aces of Rhythm, a guitar-based rhythm band which later added horns, becoming the Emperors of Rhythm.

Soon they had a good following in London and changed again to the Blues Busters, until they discovered there was already a band of that name. Only when asked to release a single did they come up with The Jive Aces – the name they’ve made their own.

The Jive Aces will headline Sands Venue on Saturday, March 5.
